bookcrossing
n. the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise.

(added to the Concise Oxford English Dictionary in August 2004)

A community/collaborative initiative about sharing experiences, fortune and of course... books

Bookcrossing is a wonderful idea, like many other initiatives of a similar type, it relies on honesty and people getting hooked on the ideology of it. Basically it is a method of sharing and tracking books with other people whether they are known to you or not in the hope that they will enjoy the book as much as you did. Books can be tracked using the bookcrossing website and reviews, comments and data about where the book has been/is going to can be recorded.

Some people even go out hunting for books that have been left behind in specific places detailed on the site.

have a look at their website for more info.

whether you believe in fate, or khama, or just like the idea of free books. Why not try it out and see what you get out of it.
